Hello,

It is now 12 years since our 1994 shift to the old quarry.

Our planting of various trees and shrubs are now more mature, providing us with a very tranquil and beautiful place, which looks natural, as if it has existed for much longer.

The collection is added to each year as more space becomes available, and interestingly plants are found.

The fruit trees are producing well, as are the olives and vegetables.

In the olive grove, friendly chickens, ducks and lambs keep grass down and bugs at bay, while sheep keep the grass and weeds down in our gulley.

We now have a two-storied “old fashioned” barn that houses our olive processing gear and is also used as a mosaic and lead-light workshop. It blends beautifully in to the landscape, and lends itself as an excellent lunchroom for our tour groups if required.

We invite you to view our home, garden and olive grove, becoming one of many people who have enjoyed the experience of our personalised and informative tour.

Regards,
Peter and Eunice Martin

Hello,

In 1994, in what some would say was a menopausal state, we shocked friends, neighbours and relations when we purchased the French Pass Quarry.

The Quarry consisted of 4 acres of gorse, broom, blackberry and every other noxious weed available plus a large gully. We have come a long way since 1994 in reclaiming our Quarry – now it is extensively planted in natives, exotics and fruit and nut trees plus an olive grove.

The work was done on a shoestring budget with no heavy equipment, so we are proud of our achievements.

Our rammed earth homes nestles nicely in its surrounding and the gardens grow like topsy. Our grey water is used to irrigate the garden and we use a lot of recycled materials. Although the garden is still young and some areas have yet to be developed, it has a feeling of peace and tranquillity.

Many of the trees have been planted to attract bird life and to provide us with fruits and nuts for many years to come.

We invite you to view our garden and olive grove on your next garden tour and enjoy the experience of our personalised and informative tour.

Regards,
Peter and Eunice Martin
